Bartholomäus Traubeck’s, latest release called ‘Years’ uses a fascinating concept. He’s used the growth rings found in different types of tree cross sections and translated them into sound. These rings are analysed for their strength, thickness and rate of growth, then data gathered via a modified turntable, mapped to a piano scale to output music. The end result is breath-taking.
